San Jose: Investigation underway into downtown shooting

SAN JOSE – The Martin Luther King Jr. Library and a public parking garage were damaged in a shooting in downtown San Jose on Thursday night, according to police.

Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of East San Fernando Street for a report of shots fired about 6:20 p.m., said San Jose police Sgt. Enrique Garcia.

Garcia said no victims were located, but “multiple rounds” hit the library and the garage.

No suspects have been arrested or identified, Garcia said.

The shooting comes just a day after authorities arrested a 17-year-old SJSU student on suspicion of making threats on social media and bringing a loaded handgun to the campus.
