It Sequel Cast: James McAvoy Teases New Role, Bill Hader Stays Mum

Celebrities

James McAvoy and Jessica Chastain are having a little too much fun with the It sequel casting rumors. On Thursday, Variety reported that McAvoy and Bill Hader are in talks to join the cast of the horror sequel to play the grown-up versions of Losers Club members Bill and Richie. Chastain has already been confirmed to play the grown-up version of Beverly.

A few hours after the casting news swept the Internet, Chastain posted a side-by-side still of herself with McAvoy in The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby, and Bill and Beverly in the first It film. “Stalker,” she captioned it, tagging McAvoy and using the hashtag #ITfilm. Director Andy Muschietti also commented on the photo, as did producer Barbara Muschietti, leaving the comment, “when dreams come true…”

So that just about confirms it, right? This thing is definitely happening? On McAvoys Instagram—which, did you know he had Instagram? And that his username is JamesMcAvoyRealDeal? And that he mainly uses it for selfies where hes flossing his Rock-likeeyebrowarch, but sometimes uses it to dispel silly rumors, like one that spread about him reportedly eating 6,000 calories per day like some sort of psycho junior Michael Phelps? Anyway, now you do, so back to the matter at hand. On Thursday, McAvoy teased fans, posting an old photo of himself with Chastain and announcing that hes in negotiations to be . . . her new hair stylist. Uh-huh.

“Id like to confirm once and for all that I am in negotiations to be @jessicachastains new hair stylist,” he wrote. “I stepped in for her go to team a few years back and cant wait to tame that mop of fire for all the mall openings and kids party paid appearances shes got coming up. Needed a career change and this feels right. I just hope I can cut it. #wetperm #it #jessicachastainsnewhairguy #careerchange.”

Oh, how stars love to tease us as we wait for the ink on their contracts to dry. It: Chapter Two is set for a distant Sept. 6, 2019 release date, so were still a ways away from any new details. Bill Hader, meanwhile, has no social-media accounts to speak of, so we imagine that hes getting in on the It sequel group chat or something, texting an endless stream of red balloon emojis to his future castmates.
