Ewan McGregor’s estranged wife Eve Mavrakis has broken her silence following claims that Mary Elizabeth Winstead had split from McGregor after she became upset at being labelled a ‘homewrecker’.
The split comes a month after he filed for divorce from his wife of 22 years, who is also the mother of his three children, Clara, 22, Jamyan, 16, Esther, 15 and Anouk, six. Court documents listed the date of their separation as May 28, 2017.
‘No, I hadn’t heard,’ Eve simply said when asked if she had heard about the split.
Speaking to the Mail On Sunday, when asked for a comment, she added: ‘I really don’t know. Sorry.’
Eve recently called the end of their marriage ‘disappointing’.
The 51-year-old said: ‘It’s disappointing and upsetting but my main concern is our four children are OK.’
Ewan, 46, reportedly agreed in the divorce documents to pay spousal support, while the lack of a pre-nuptial agreement means that their property and assets will be evenly divide.
Ewan and Eve’s complicated split has played out in public over awards season, with Ewan sitting at tables with his new girlfriend Mary. In a truly awkward moment, the actor thanked both Eve and Mary in the same breath in his acceptance speech for his Best Actor Golden Globe.
He said: ‘I want to take a moment to just say thank you to Eve, who always stood by me for 22 years, and our four children Clara, Esther, Jamyan and Anouk. And there wouldn’t have been any Ray without Mary Elizabeth Winstead.’
And Eve, 51, reportedly wasn’t impressed by her husband of 22 years’ words. When asked by the Daily Mail about her feelings on Ewan’s speech, Eve reportedly said: ‘No, I did not like his speech.’
When asked why she didn’t like the speech, the mother-of-four said: ‘For the same reasons you are here asking me about it. I am not going to say any more.’
